Author's note: This is not your typical romance, if you could call it a romance at all. Yes, I am an avid shipper, but I got this idea as I listened to this song and I thought, 'if Mulder and Scully did indeed get together, what would happen if it didn't work?' Well, this is basically that. Not a light was shining. He sat on the dark leather couch. Alone. Always alone. Don't get it all wrong. He did have a love once. But she turned out like all the others. She left him. She needed something more. That's what she told him. It broke his heart and from that day forward, he vowed never to love again. All love gave him was heartache, misery, and tragedy. He didn't need love. That's what he told himself. But... sometimes, he would look out the window and watch all the young couples in love strolling around, holding hands and giving each other sweet little kisses. How he wanted to open the window and shout to them that love was just a tragedy; nothing good can come from it. At least, that's what he kept telling himself. He wanted to believe. It made the pain easier. But... sometimes, he would dream. He would dream of the past; when he had someone to hold on to, someone to listen to his wild theories and not quickly judge him. He missed that time. But... he kept telling himself that this was better. This would save him from the heartache associated with romance. There was no reason to suffer anymore. He told himself that what he felt for her wasn't love at all, but just a simple chemical reaction that happened within his brain. But... he soon began to feel his self-esteem cave in. He needed someone. But there was no one. No one understood what he had been through. No one would ever understand what he was going through. All except her and she left him. Like all the others. But... he decided it was time to quit suffering in silence. He didn't want love to leave him completely. He decided to take these broken wings of his and learn to fly again. He knew that someday, he would no longer be alone. The End Feedback? invisible_sun@hotmail.com 8-)
