Leaving on a Jet Plane by Judas Iscariot Judas5@juno.com Part 6/?? All info and disclaimers in chapter 1 post. ********************************************* "Gentlemen, I need your help." "No sweat Mulder...but where's the babe?" "Sorry Frohike, she's trying to clear something up in South Dakota. You'll have to see her some other time." Mulder replied. "Damn, well what can we do for you?" Frohike responded. "Four days ago a 747 went down in the Black Hills of South Dakota. What do you guys know?" "Not much actually." Byers answered, "No survivors, mechanical troubles suspected as the cause." "I don't think that's the case fellas. There was one survivor, last name Lasmide. After Scully and I talked to him he was accidentally given an overdose of sugar water. Normally, it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but he was a diabetic. He mentioned a few instances where there was turbulence and bright flashes of lightning, yet on the flight recorder, no mention was made of these rough spots. Also, Lasmide mentioned a man he swore wasn't on the plane when it took off from DC." "He told you all of this at the hospital?" Langly asked. "No," Mulder replied, "that was in an e-mail message to his wife that he sent from his laptop on the plane. We found it when we went to his wife's house, who died on the interstate when her brakes failed. A nurse supposedly sent to the hospital to help out in the wake of the crash had Mrs. Lasmide's e-mail address on her laptop, but obviously she was nowhere to be found." "You think she's the one that killed Lasmide at the hospital?" Byers asked. "Yeah, I'm sure of it." Mulder stated. "What do you need us to do?" Frohike questioned. "Find out what's on the real flight recorder tapes." ************************************************* Custer Police Station "Yes agent Scully, both the pilot and co-pilot were identified by the coroner yesterday." Lt. Stowolski said. "Lt., when and where was the black box found might I ask?" Scully questioned. "Just before we were going to close up the search one evening, one of the officers found it on the other side of the hill." he responded. "Was there any other debris or remains anywhere near it?" "No, nothing." "Thanks for all your cooperation sir." Maybe Mulder was right to have a funny feeling about this. Then again, he had a funny feeling about every case. She'd better call him and fill him in. "Mulder? It's Scully." "Hey Scully, Frohike here was just drooling over you...I mean asking about you. What's up?" "I don't think those flight recordings are legit Mulder." "I realized that too Scully, get back up here as soon as you can. We've got to get a hold of the real tapes. Geez, I sound like I'm investigating Watergate." Mulder joked. "Funny. I'll be there ASAP President Nixon." "Mulder," Frohike called, "I'm getting something from one of my buddies in South Dakota." ************************************************* End of chapter 6.
