Disclaimer: Don't own 'em. CC, Fox, 1013 Productions, and the actors do. Just borrowing 'em. No hard feelings, huh? Oh, I also don't own the characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Paramont and the actors do. And Rick Berman does. Spoilers: none Keywords: XF/Star Trek:TNG crossover Mulder/Scully romance Rating: I guess you could say PG. Summary: Mulder and Scully get beamed into the 24 century where they meet an enemy we all love to hate. Author's Notes: It's not really a ST: TNG crossover. It doesn't take place during the series. More along the lines of after ST: First Contact, acually now, after ST: Insurrection. You know, Data has emotions, Worf now back at Deep Space 9, that sorta thing. It just has the characters from the series (except Worf). Enough of my rambling, let's get started. So It IS True by: The 'ONE' ( xftngds9vb@hotmail.com ) It was dark. There were no stars twinkling in the sky. Why did they have to have a stake-out tonight in the middle of a forest? Oh yeah....Mulder, Dana Scully's partner, dragged her out here. Dana was exhausted. She wanted to go home to her bed. "Scully?" That voice sounded so distant. "Scully?" "Huh?" Dana said snapping out of her reverie. "You okay?" Mulder asked, concern crossing his face. "Yeah...." "You were kinda fadin' out." Still concern showed on his face. "Was I? I didn't notice." Mulder and Dana sat silent for awhile. Mulder, looking out a window, spotted a strange light. It was moving across the black, empty sky. "Scully, did you see that?" "See what?" "There was some sort of light moving across the sky." "Where?" Scully asked. They got out of the car and looked up at the sky. "There it is," Mulder said when the light came into view again. "What is it?" "It could be a comet or an astroid," Scully scientifically said. "Why would it orbit the planet?" "A satallite?" But before Mulder could answer, there was a strange light on the ground. Mulder and Scully were drawn to it, but before they grew too transfixed to it, people began to form out of the light. "I think we made it to the correct time zone, Sir," a strangely colored man said after hitting a pin on his shirt. "That's good to know, Mr. Data. Are they anywhere around you?" a voice that came from nowhere said. The strange man looked at Mulder and Scully. "I think we found them, Sir. Enterprise, standby." Scully was the first to say something. "Who are you?" "That is an interesting question. We are from the 24th century. I am Lt. Cmdr. Data and these are my shipmates," the man said indicating to the people behind him. "Ummm.....Shipmates?" Mulder asked cautiously. "Yes," 'Data' said pointing to the little light moving across the sky. "That is our ship, the Enterprise." "You have to be kidding," Scully said in great disbelief. One of so-called Data's shipmates;a woman with long brown hair stepped forward and said, "I know how you feel about all this but I assure you, it is true." "How could you possibly know how I feel?" Scully asked, sarcasm in her voice. "She's not exactly human. I, mean, she's part human and part Betaziod. They're a telepathic species," a red-haired woman said. She appeared to be a human, but Mulder and Scully weren't so sure. "Okay...I don't suppose you have any proof of this....." Scully started but stopped when she realized that she didn't know this woman's name. "Beverly. Beverly Crusher. I'm the ship's doctor." "I'm the ship's counselor," the brown-haired woman said. "My name is Deanna Troi." "And I'm Geordi LaForge; the ship's chief engineer," the African American with the oddly blue eyes said. "I--Mulder--please tell me you don't believe this," Scully demanded. "Can you...umm...prove these...acussations?" Mulder asked the strange people. "Of course we can. Why would we travel back centuries in time and not have proof?!" Data said starting to loose his temper. "Data, remember what we talked about? About controlling these outbursts?" Deanna asked him. "Yes. Sorry Counselor. I will try to control them better." Mulder looked at Scully with a weird look on his face thinking that this man, or whatever he was, was completely unstable. Data turned back to them. "Sorry for my outburst. Yes, we have proof. Data to the Enterprise. Five to beam out." "What do you mean 'beam out'? Mulder asked when they were engulfed in blue. When the blue dissappated, they were no longer in the forest, but in a room of sorts. There were two men standing in front of the platform they were on and there was a man at a control panel that was at the back of the room. One of the men in front of them was fairly older than the rest and had male pattern baldness. The other man was several years younger than the man next to him. He had a beard and dark brown hair. The man in the back startled Mulder and Scully the most. He looked a lot like a human, but his face was emotionless and he had pointed ears. "Welcome to the Enterprise. I am Captain Jean-Luc Picard," the older man said. "Scully, are we seeing things?" Mulder asked very confused. "I have no idea." XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxx "I'm sure that you have many questions to ask us," the man who called himself Captain Picard said. "I'm putting my first officer, Commander Wil Riker at your service," he said as he introduced 'Riker'. 'Picard' turned to 'Riker', "Number One, I'll be on the bridge. Mr. Data you're with me." "Aye, Sir." When the captain and Data left, Commander Riker said, " If you'll follow me, we'll go somewhere where we can talk." Mulder and Scully, seeming to have no other choice, followed the man. They went through a door that magically opened when they stepped in front of it and into a very narrow corridor. In the corridor were several people dressed in pretty much the same fashion. Their clothing was either blue, red, or a greenish-yellowish color. Riker stopped at a door and pointed to little bity words that were written on the door. "The room identificaion jis on every door. It'll tell you where you are if you happen to get lost. Or you can ask the computer." The door opened. "After you." Mulder went in first, followed by Scully who was followed by Riker. Once inside, Riker led them to a little table in the far corner. As they sat down, Riker asked, "What questions do I have the honor of answering?" Mulder, being the one who believed in that sort of thing, had several questions. "I know you're human, right?" Riker nodded. "OK, of the people we met, whose human, whose not?" "Well, the humans are Captain Picard, Geordi LaForge, Dr. Beverly Crusher, and myself of course. Deanna Troi is half human and half Betazoid; she's telepathic. Lt. Cmdr. Data is an android; he has emotions in case you're wondering. But of course, he still wants to be human. And Ensign Zakal, he was the one at the back of the room where we met you with the pointed ears, is a Vulcan." "...Sure, fine, whatever," said a very bored and skeptic Scully. Mulder, being completly oblivious to what Scully was saying, kept raiding Riker with questions. That is until Riker was called away to the bridge and Ensign Zakal was assigned to give them quarters. After Zakal gave them their quarters, he mentioned something about them having a meeting in the Observation Lounge at 0900 hours. Mulder looked around his quarters and finding nothing that grabbed his attention, went to Scully's quarters. "Hey, Mulder, do you know what this is?" Scully asked standing in front of a weird looking device that was implanted into the wall. "I think that Worf guy said it was a replicator," Mulder responded. "Okay, whatever." "It's supposed to make food. The 'voice' called him out before he had the chance to tell me exactly how," he said with humor in his voice. Scully walked over to the sofa and looked out the window at the stars. "This *has* to be a dream. Soon I'll wake up in my own bed. XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxx Mulder and Scully were awoken then led to the little room off the side of the brigde called the observation lounge. "Agents Mulder, Scully, thank you for joining us," the Capt. said. He pointed to a couple of vacant seats. "Please have a seat." Mulder and Scully looked at each other with a weird look on they're faces, then took a seat. Deanna felt an overwelming feeling go through her. It seemed to be that of a great love and it was emminating from Agents Mulder and Scully. Instead of speaking up right then and there; that would be very rude; Deanna decided to catch Scully after the briefing. "Okay, the two of you may be wondering what's going on--" Picard started to say. "No, man. We were perfectly happy about getting kidnapped," Mulder said anger rising in his voice. "We didn't kidnap you," the Capt. protested. "Technically, we did, Sir," Data said. "We took them against their will. It is perfectly understandable why Agent Mulder is mad. I would be mad if I was in the same situation...Sir" "Okay, so maybe we did. But we have a perfectly good reason for doing so. Mr Data, " the Capt. replied. Data started to explain every thing. About how someone went back in time and sided with the evil Consortium, how this person, whoever it was, was planning to kill them for the Consortium. While Data explained this, Mulder and Scully sat in shock. Why did They always do this to them. They just wouldn't stop torturing them. "Let's dicuss this later," Deanna said looking at the Captain, who understood why she said that. "OK. Fine. Mr. Data, Counselor, I want you to tell them everything later tonight," The Captain said. "Aye, Sir," both Data and Deanna said. "Dismissed." Scully managed to leave without being caught by Mulder. She didn't want to face him. At least not now. He would go on about how They always did this and how he was going to get them someday. She couldn't deal with that right now. "Agent Scully?" Deanna's voice called. "Yes?" Scully responded. "Could we talk in private?" "Certainly." XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxx Deanna led Scully to her office. Again, the doors opened automatically. "Do you love him?" Deanna said when the doors closed. "Excuse me?" Scully asked taken aback by the question. "Agent Mulder. Do you love him?" Deanna tried again. "Yes." "Ok, Agent Mulder. Exactly how long have you known this?" Riker asked. "Ever since our first case 5 years ago." "You should have seen him in those glasses," Scully laughed in spite of herself. "But it can't happen." "Why?" Deanna asked. "It's against FBI policies," Scully said with a sad look on her face. "But it's not like I ever followed policies," Mulder added with a chuckle. "But it's not like Mulder's ever followed policies," Scully said with a chuckle. XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxx "So you can recreate our office?" Mulder was asking as he and Scully were following Deanna and Data to what they called a 'holodeck'. "Yes. All I need you two to do is to tell me what it looks like," Data said. Mulder began telling Data what it looked like and Scully piped up,"Don't forget messy." Mulder gave her a look. "What? I'm just stating the facts," Scully responded. Deanna stifled a laugh. These two practically acted like an old married couple. "Okay. Messy," Data said. Mulder then finished describing their office and they stepped inside. It looked exactly like their real office. It was amazing that it was just a hologram. "This is not real?" Mulder asked in shock, amazed by the details. "No. Television was eliminated a long time ago and was replaced with the holodeck," Deanna explained. "Ah." Mulder looked around his office and sat down in the desk chair. "Hard to believe this was burned down a few months ago, huh?" he asked no one in particular. Scully was about to respond when the room started to shake. "Ummm, Mr. Data, what is that?" "We are being attack," he responded grimly. "By what?" Mulder asked. "All hands to battle stations. Repeat. This is the Captain, all hands to battle stations!" rang through the air. Data motioned for Mulder and Scully to follow him. When Data, Mulder, Scully, and Deanna arrived on the bridge, one man yelled, "Captain, we are now being hailed." "On screen!" Picard yelled. Instead of showing a ship firing at them, the screen showed a man who looked exactly like Data. "Ahh. Brother!" the man called when he saw Data. "Lore, you son-----" Data started to say but was cut off by the man he called Lore. "Data, dear brother, since when did you have emotions?" "Enough! When and how were you reassembled, Lore," Riker asked. "The great Admiral Maddox reassembled me. It was a great joy. Wish you could've been there, Brother." Lore said with a evil grin on is face. "I would have seen to it that you would have never been reassembled. More along the lines of being *completely* destroyed," Data roared with anger. Mulder and Scully stood in the back watching this mirade flashing before their eyes. "Ah. I see that you have brought the merchandise. You, Merchandise, I have a suprise for you. Meet your long time enemy," Lore said moving out of the way. A smoking haze filled the room. Through the smoking haze stepped a man no other than the so-called 'Cancer Man'. XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxx Mulder and Scully's mouths dropped open. How in the world did he meet this Data look-alike? "Agent Mulder, so we meet again. I suppose you're wondering how I accomplished this wonderful act?" 'Cancer Man' said through puffs on his Morley cigarrette. Mulder stepped out from behind the tactical position and in front of Scully. "No, actually, I was thinking on how I was going to kill you?" "Now, now Mulder. Let's not be hasty." Picard stepped forward. He didn't want to continue this meeting hiding behind viewscreens, but rather face to face. "Why don't we continue this meeting face to face, Lore." "Oh, I got a better idea," Lore said then he and the smoking man disappeared from the screen. "Thank God, they're gone," Mulder said but unfortunately, that was a little premature. Scully started to disappear. Mulder looked over at her, fear crossing his face. "Scully, no!!" Data went to the bridge transporter to see if he could get her back. "Captain, I am attempting to get a lock on her." Mulder looked at Data hopefully. "Damn!" Data cursed as he slammed his fist into the console. "What?" Picard asked. "I am unable to get a lock on her, Sir," Data said. Mulder's face fell. How will they get her back? He needed to tell her how he felt before it was too late. To tell her that he loved her. But now it may be too late. "Sir," Data said. "His ship's shields are down we can transport over. If I know my brother, he probably will not notice a thing." "OK. Prepare your away team Data. Bring her back home," Picard said. "Dr. Crusher meet me and Ensign Zakal in transporter room three." "Let me go," Mulder begged. "Please let me come." Data nodded. He, Ensign Zakal and Mulder went to meet Dr. Crusher in the transporter room. XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxx "Set your phasers on stun," Data told Mulder(who was unfamiliar with phasers), Dr. Crusher, and Ensign Zakal. When everybody finished setting their phasers, Data told the chief to energize. Once on Lore's ship, they whipped out their phasers in case of impending danger. When there appeared to be no danger right now, Data led everybody down the corridor of the dark and gloomy ship. It perfectly matched Lore and the 'Cancer Man's' life of living in the dark. "What are those?" Mulder asked Data when he saw several humanoid forms. The forms looked like they were part machanical and part biological. "They are Borg. Fire on my mark," Data ordered. "Now!" Phaser blasts filled the room. Bodies fell. When the smoke disappeared, Ensign Zakal was on the ground. Dr. Crusher ran to him to check him out. After scanning him, she looked up with a look of despair on her face and shook her head. He was dead. They moved on, not risking contacting the Enterprise. The next room they entered appeared to be the bridge of the ship. And in the corner was Lore and 'Cancer Man.' In front of them was Scully being held by two Borg. Mulder started to move towards Scully but was stopped by Data. "Let me get Lore and the man's attention. You and Dr. Crusher get her out of here," Data whispered to Mulder and Dr. Crusher. They nodded. Data moved behind Lore and 'Cancer Man' and pocketed his phaser. "Well, well, well. You are pretty stupid Lore. Leaving your shields down where we can beam over or destroy you. Well, you always were stupid." Lore turned around and ran at Data. Data whipped out his phaser but Lore tore it out of his hand. While the two brothers fought, Mulder snuck up behind 'Cancer Man' and slugged him on the back of the head with his phaser. The man fell hard on the ground. Lore's Borg followers now let go of Scully to run and protect The One. "Agent Mulder!" Dr. Crusher yelled. "Fire at them!" Mulder turned and fired at the first Borg; Dr. Crusher fired at the second. After the Borg fell, Mulder ran to Scully who was on the ground semiconscious. "Mulder?" she called out. "I'm here," he said reassuringly. Mulder looked at Dr. Crusher. "Will she be okay?" "Yeah. The scan shows no life threatening injuries. She's just a little out of it," she responded with a smile. But the reunion was cut short when someone was thrown in front of them. "Dr. Crusher, Mr. Mulder do you think you could help me here?" Data asked obviously having a hard time beating his brother. "Oh, sure," Dr. Crusher said as she went to Lore who was on the floor apparently having a difficult time getting up. Once at Lore, Crusher flipped him over and flipped the little switch on his back which deactivated him. "Now that that is taken care of, we can get the hell out of here," Data said. "Data to the Enterprise, four to beam up." XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxx Scully was laying on a bio bed in sickbay, sedated. Once seeing that Scully was safe and sound, Mulder went with Data to the bridge. Data had said that he had something he needed to do once and for all. "What are you going to do?" Mulder asked Data in the turbolift. "I should destroy that ship and Lore along with it," Data responded. "Why, he's your brother." "True. But Lore is nothing like our father wanted him to be. Father had to dismantle him because he turned on him. He should have stayed that way. But I was too inexperienced in life and curious about where I came from to know better, so I reassembled him when we found him," Data replied with guilt. "Well, why don't you kill that smoking man along with Lore," Mulder said. "No problem." XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXXxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxx Picard, Deanna, and Riker sat in their seats looking at the ship that appeared on the viewscreen, wondering what had happened out there since Data hadn't been to the bridge to report to them. "I hope they got Miss Scully back okay," Riker said. "I hope so too, Number One," Picard said. The turbolift doors opened and all three of them looked hopefully at the door. Sure enough, Data stepped out of them followed by Mulder. "Did you get her back?" Deanna asked. "Yeah. She's with Dr. Crusher right now," Mulder said. "Ensign Zakal did not make it, Sir. He was attacked by Lore's Borg followers," Data added. Picard and Riker hung their heads. Why did they always seem to lose the good officers to the Borg? "Sir," Data piped up after a moment. "Permission to fire at that ship." "Why, Data?" Riker asked. "I just need to do something that I should have done a long time ago." "Permission granted. Let's get rid of that ship," Picard answered. "Torpedos away." There was a loud blast. "Direct hit. They are gone, Sir. Dead." XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXX Scully sat on the couch looking out at the stars. They were so beautiful up in the sky. And there were so many of them. *BEEP!* "Come in," Scully said tearing her vision from the stars to fix it on the door. The door opened to reveal Mulder. "Hi." "Hi," Mulder said as he walked towards her. "How you doing?" "Oh, I'm fine," Scully said honestly. "Are you sure?" Mulder said to make sure. "I said I was fine." Mulder nodded and sat down next to her. He looked into her eyes. They were a beautiful shade of blue. Like an ocean. You could get so lost in them. And he was doing just that. Mulder cupped Scully's face in his hands and looked deeper in her eyes. "Mulder-" "Shhh," Mulder said his finger on her lips. "I've been wanting to say this for a very long time. I love you." "I love you, too," Scully said with a smile. Mulder moved in and their lips touched. The kiss was gentle but the love was there as it always was. XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxx "Agent Mulder, agent Scully?" Data's voice rang through the room. "Yeah," Mulder said. "We are ready for you to go back to Earth. Meet Captain Picard and Cmdr. Riker in transporter room 3. Data out." Mulder looked at Scully. "Let's go back home." "Okay." XXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxxXXXxxx "I trust that you had an interesting time here?" Picard asked Mulder and Scully when they entered the transporter room. "You could say that, yeah," Mulder said holding Scully hand when they stepped on the pad. "Well, I'm sure that you'll see more interesting things in the future," Riker said with a grin. They had no idea what was to come. "Energize," Picard said. And Mulder and Scully disappeared back to earth. "Mr. Data," Picard said. "Take us back to the 24th century. "Aye, Sir. With pleasure." el fin Well, what do you think? Email feedback to xftngds9vb@hotmail.com This is my VERY FIRST fanfic so don't be too harsh.
