The Horrible Truth By NoOne4 [NoOne4@aol.com] August 13, 1996 The horrible truth about the X-Files is revealed. All characters (with the exception of the narrator, which belongs to me- as IF I'd ever use it again) belong to Chris Carter, Ten Thirteen and FOX broadcasting. Used without permission. No infringement intended. As we all know too well, AOL belongs to America Online and whoever else. (Like I study these things!) This story is for the wholehearted enjoyment of EMXC only. Any further distibution without the prior consent of ME is in violation of some law somewhere. (I think) Rated G. All ages admitted. Mulder walked slowly into the warehouse, his partner of three years, Dana Scully, following behind him closely. He was sure this was IT. He turned as he heard a noise behind him. "Just me. I stepped on some glass or something. Remind me never to do this in high heels again," Scully joked. Mulder knew that she's probably be following him once again next week, wearing a very similar pair of heels. The building was dark and damp feeling. The floor had a gritty feel under the two agents' shoes, and there was a noticible scent of burnt rubber in the building that had, 30 years ago, housed a tire factory. Now, Mulder believed, its walls concealed some of the United States' most heavily guarded secrets. The ones he had dedicated his life to finding. Scully slowly began lifting her gun upwards, automatically on the alert, thanks to the unwelcoming atmosphere the large building provided. "I think he's back there," Her partner informed her, pointing to a narrow hallway heading towards what must once have been offices. He, too, drew his gun in a rather paranoid gesture. "You want me to wait out here?" Scully asked. "Only if you're chicken to come in," Her partener taunted. "The only thing I'm afraid of is if what you find out isn't what you want to know," Scully replied in a more serious tone. "All I'm interested in is the truth." "The truth that you're looking for, Mulder, isn't nessecarily what you'll find." "Scully, I know I could learn some things that upset me, but at least I'll know. At least I'll FINALLY know." "So, do you want me to wait out here?" "No. You have as much right to find out as I do." "I wish you hadn't said that." "Why, Scully?" "You're afraid of not knowing, but I know it's something I don't want to learn. If I would have liked to know, it wouldn't have become a highly classified government secret." "Fine, but I have to find out what happened to my sister." "I understand that Mulder." "I wish I understood what you're saying." "You probably will." With that, Mulder silently and slowly walked along the wet and sticky floor, about to learn the things he had waited his whole life to know. On his way there, he contemplated what Scully had said. He had been waiting so long, that he didn't grasp her wisdom until he returned from the brightly lit room, gun drawn, reluctantly preparing to pay the price for his new knowlegde. Within moments, the two partners of three years, and three years only had their guns drawn on each other. Disgusted at not figuring out what had happened in the bright room I had only gotten a glimpse of, I pressed the button on the dark plastic object on my hand. The magnetically created picture on the screen flickered and before my eyes, a football game flicked to life. I walked over to the computer, and I heard the all too familiar voice chant "Welcome." Even more disgusted, I turned off my computer, all at once realizing the horrible Truth. "It's only a TV show" All for now, THE END BTW- Sorry for those of you weren't aware off this. Maybe I needed a spoiler warning. I'd like any and all feedback, from "How could you say that," to "I thought you didn't consistintly describe the warehouse" to "Too many comma errors."
