This is just a little something I wrote up in my own little 'fantasy' universe. However, my sister hates it when writers totally disregard reality, no matter the purpose of the story. So, this one is for her. It's a semi-sad, sappy love story with resolution. It's also a part of my 'Fantasy' series. Enjoy! DISCLAIMER: I sorta borrowed Fox Mulder and Dana Scully for this story. But, I promptly returned them, unharmed, to CC, Fox Television, and 1013 Productions when I was done. No copyright infringement intended, so don't sue me. (Though, I'm broke, so it won't do you much good anyway!) And now to [back] our regularly scheduled story... Healing Time by Jennifer Anne Brown (Nonbelvr@aol.com) Fox Mulder rolled over in bed and reached out for his lover, his fiance, and future wife, Dana Scully. He reached out in the dark, but found nothing but coldness beside him. He could hear faint noises from the TV in the other room. Mulder thought He got out of bed and went into the next room where Dana was 'watching' TV. He went around the front of the couch to where she was laying. He could see the motions from the images on the screen play off her face since no other lights in the room were on. Even in the dim lighting, though, he could tell her eyes were red and bloodshot and that she had been crying alone in the darkness. Her eyes weren't focused on the TV. She had a far off, dreamy gaze and didn't notice Mulder was in the room until he spoke. "Hey," he said, lightly touching her shoulder, startling her slightly, "what's wrong, sweets? What are you doing up so late?" "Nothing," was all she said. She sat up allowing him to stretch out on the couch. He pulled her into his lap and she layed her head on his chest. He found the remote and shut the television off. Then, he wrapped his arms around her gently. They sat there in the dark for awhile, completely silent, just being with each other. Then, with no warning, Dana started to sob uncontrollably into Mulder's chest. And all he could do was hold her, tell her it was okay, and wait for it to pass. In the past seven months, both of their lives had undergone some drastic changes. It had been Christmas day, almost seven months ago, that they had begin knocking down the final walls to their *close* relationship that had been slowly building; it was about a month and a half after that, sometime in February, that they both had been shocked to learn that Dana was pregnant; then, a little over two months after that, she'd had a miscarriage, which shook her deeply. The tidal wave of sadness and emotion that was hitting her was just a repercussion of the miscarriage, mostly, Mulder knew that. He still felt helpless, knowing that he would just have to coax her through it and let it pass. He sat in the dark with her, holding her, stroking her fiery auburn hair, whispering to her through her sobs that it was okay, that everything was fine, which was a lie. he thought "It's alright, my love," he whispered in her ear when her sobs grew quieter. "When we get married, we can have a dozen children, if you wish." he later thought. "*If* we can have children," she muttered against his chest. "What's that suppose to mean?" he said, pulling her away from his chest so he could look her in the eye. "What if there's something wrong?!" she said, her voice near screaming level. "What if there's something wrong with *me*?!! What if I'm one of those women who can't carry a pregnancy to term, who never give birth to a living child?!! And, if I do, I lose my own life in the process!!! What about that?!! Did you ever stop to consider that?!!" She was definitely screaming now. "Dana, Dana, Dana," he said, placing her head back against his chest. "Dana, my love, there is nothing wrong with you! Remember, I went with you to your last gynecological appointment. And, as far as you dying in childbirth, I don't think that will happen, either. You are too strong, Dana Katherine Scully. And," he said, pulling her head away again and looking deeply into her blue eyes, "I won't let you," he softly finished. He kissed her with all the love he had in him. Then, he helped her up and into bed and she fell asleep listening to his breathing and the sound of his heartbeat. She knew that once they got married, everything would be complete. All the pieces of the puzzle she called her life would come together, making a beautiful picture of him and her, together, forever. THE END (for now) xxxx That's it for this little foray into S&M dreamland. And, yes, I wrote that that way on purpose! If you would like to write a segment in this little shuffle, let me know! I don't have any qualms about it, just let me know and read it before sending it out! xxxx The Fantasy Series: ^Emergency, with love (*) ^Healing Time (*) ^Faerytale Wedding (*) ^Honeymoon Horror ^A Swirl of Emotion ^Beyond Joy and Love ^The Lullaby ^Afterlife (*) ^Maryah (*) ^At Christmas Time ^Life Choices ^The Rebel ^Alone...At Last (*)=already written or in the process of
