Last one of this title!!! Hooray, hooray!!! But, there is more in the works, stay tuned. The legal-smegal shtuff goes here. Duh. "Emergency, with love" 5/5 by Jennifer Anne Brown (Nonbelvr@aol.com) The next two months went without incident. Scully moved into Mulder's apartment, since she knew he's never get all of his stuff packed up and over to hers. They set up a crib in the corner of his bedroom. She accepted his proposal of marriage, but didn't want to rush in, so they were planning to wait until her fifth month of pregnancy. But, the emergency that happened in the fourth month tested their strength. Scully decided to stay 'home' that day. She had said she was feeling 'lousy'. "Probably a bug. It's going around, you know," Skinner had said when she called in. Scully thought. They, Mulder and her, had decided to wait on telling him. Actually, aside for Alex, Margaret Scully was the only other person they told. They thought it bad luck to be over sure too soon. The day had been boring and uneventful. Mulder was glad to be coming 'home' to Scully's glowing face. "Honey, I'm home!" he said when he came in. he thought. No reply. He quietly put his things down and creeped into the bedroom. Empty. The bathroom door was slightly ajar. he went over and poked his head in. His jaw dropped at the scene he encountered: Scully unconscious on the floor, a tiny pool of blood surrounding her, her pants and shirt mostly soaked. "My God!" he gasped. He immediately made sure she was breathing and all the stuff they had taught him to do in CPR class. He then called 9-1-1 and told them what he knew. The ambulance seemed to take forever. The attendant hassle him about riding in the ambulance. Everything became a blur. Mulder called her mother on his cell phone on the way to the hospital. Desperate for support, he called Alex. She said she'd meet him at the hospital. When Alex found Mulder, he was pacing back and forth in front of a set of double doors, another set of double doors just past a hallway beyond those. Not to far from him was an older woman sitting in one of the waiting room chairs. Alex assumed that it was one of the two's mothers, probably Dana's. Alex walked over to him. He stopped pacing and gave her a hug. She asked what happened. He told her what he knew. "The doctors said that there was something wrong with baby and she began to hemorrhage. Something like that," he said. "Why don't you go sit down and try to relax. Pacing isn't going to help," she suggested. He did sit down and tried to relax. He was doing pretty well, until he heard screaming... The first yelp that came from behind the set of doors, Alex and Margaret managed to get him to sit back down and convince him that she was fine. The screams got progressively louder, and by the last one, they were barely able to slow him down. Alex was pushing on his chest, but was also being pushed across the floor, and Margaret held on to his waist, trying to pull him back, but ended stumbling across the floor behind him. The only person who seemed to have any influence (or luck, rather) on stopping him was the large black woman in a nurses uniform now standing in front of the outer set of double doors. "Sir, I can't allow you to go any further," she sternly said. Alex moved to Mulder's side and back a little bit, back with Mrs. Scully. "You don't understand," he begun, his voice trembling with worry, "my...fiance is in there. I should be with her. I *need* to be with her!" he desperately cried. "I know, sire, but please understand that she is in very capable hands. She will be fine. So, please sit down. A doctor will come and get you when you can see her," she said, a hint of caring added to her previously cold voice. Just then, a doctor came out from behind the outer set of double doors, and the nurse. "Fox Mulder?" he asked, looking about the group. "Yes?" Mulder said. "Thank you, Nurse Basset," the doctor said to the nurse. She ducked back behind the double doors. "I presume you are Mrs. Scully," he asked Margaret. "Yes," she said, stepping forward. The doctor looked at Alex. "Just a friend," she said with a nod. "I'm Dr. Frank," he said, shaking each hand in turn. "Mr. Mulder, Mrs. Scully," he began, "before I allow you to see Miss Scully, I need to inform you on her condition." He paused for a slight moment and drew in a breath. "Miss Scully has had a spontaneous abortion, more commonly called a miscarriage." Mulder drew a sharp breath and his eyes instantly filled up with tears. He turned to Maggie and hugged her and began to sob into her shoulder. Maggie cried more silently into his shoulder. When he regained somewhat of his composure, he turned back to Dr. Frank, wiping his tears away with the back of his hand. Maggie pulled a tissue out of her purse and dabbed dry the wetness on her face. "She is in stable condition now. She's been calling for Mr. Mulder..." He didn't need to hear anymore. He stepped past the doctor, went through the double doors, and turned left into the hallway which separated the two sets of doors. He didn't know what room she was in, but, instinctively, he found it. The room was dim and had a sick florescent glow to it. Her bed was at the far side of the room. She looked like she was asleep. He came in the room quiet, but when he sat down and touched her freehand, the other attached to an IV tube, she was instantly awake. "Mulder!" she cried. She sat up and threw her arms around him and began to cry hard on his shoulder. "I'm sorry. I am so sorry," she cried. "Sorry? What are you sorry about?" he softly said, wrapping his arms around her, being careful of the IV. He petted her slightly messed hair with one hand. "I lost our baby!" she sobbed, so hard that he could barely understand the words. "Oh, sweet Dana!" he whispered. He pulled her away from him and held her head between his hands so she couldn't turn away. "Scully, listen to me: This is *not* your fault. Do you understand me?!" She nodded the best she could with her head clamped by his hands. "It was probably due to stress," she feebly whispered. "Yes, yes," he said. He then leaned forward and rested his forehead against hers, still clamping her head. "I still love you, Dana Scully," he whispered. "Probably now more that ever. And I probably always will!" **** Th-th-that's all folks! Well, for this ever-so-slightly cheesy story, give or take a brick of cheddar! And, since it seemed like everyone but myself had one, and since my friends love to see me suffer with writers cramp and like watching me drown in starting too many projects at once, it has been decided that this story is the beginning of a series, 'The Fantasy' series. ((Remind me later that I must kill someone)) I more than likely will not write them in order, but each story will be able to stand on its own as well as work as part of a bigger work! Neat, huh?! The Fantasy Series: (*) denotes that this work has already been written. ^Emergency, with love (*) ^Healing Time ^Faerytale Wedding ^Honeymoon Horror ^A Swirl of Emotion ^Beyond Joy and Love ^The Lullaby ^Afterlife (*) ^Maryah (*) ^At Christmas Time ^Life Choices ^The Rebel ^Alone...At Last ...Ok, ok, enough! I am *not* taking anymore suggestions!
