Blair -------------------------------------- Mulder and I were at the reflecting pool after my meeting with the Office of Professional Review. He wanted me to quit and to become a doctor. I know why. He didn't want anything to happen to me. He was scared of losing me. He was scared that I might die. I would never leave you, Mulder. How could I leave you after everything that we had been through? It's impossible for me to leave. "If I quit now, they win." I gazed into his hazel eyes with a smile on my face. I love him. I know I love him. I took his hands and I grasped them. He turned to face me, and I thought that he was going to kiss me. To finish what we had started in the hallway. I still remember the passion that I felt in the hallway when our lips grazed until the bee stung me. Damn the bee! I wanted him to kiss me. I wanted him to finally tell me the truth of how much he loves me. Like we almost did in the hallway. "Mulder," I smiled. "Let's get out of here." We were holding hands, but I broke off. My arm went a little higher as I pull him away from the reflecting pool. "Where do you want to go?" Mulder asked. "My place or yours?" "How about mine?" I suggested. There would be no memories of me laying on the ground after being stung by a bee carrying an alien virus at my apartment. "That's fine," Mulder replied. "I think that I know why." "This time a bee won't interrupt us. Will it?" I answered. "No, it won't," Mulder smiled. >From gazing at his eyes, I know that this evening together would be a new beginning in our relationship. From partners to lovers. It is a big step for us to take. I admit that. It's the step that I don't mind taking. We survived so much through the years, and I know we can become romantically involved. In the hallway, he made the first move. I know my move has been delayed but I am going to take it now. Since we took our own cars to work, I went straight to my apartment as I know that Mulder would show up at any time. I found one of my romantic classical music CDs and I put one in the CD player. I want a romantic atmosophere to be perfect. I looked at my watch, and Mulder should be here at any minute. I heard a knock on the door. I know it's him. I opened the door, and Mulder walked into the apartment. "Hi Mulder," I answered, giving him a hug. "What's that for?" Mulder asked, curious. I could tell that he wasn't expecting that from me. "For saving my life," I replied. "You don't owe me anything," Mulder replied. He sat down on the sofa as I did. But I do. He saved my life. Not once, but several times during the past five years. One could chalk it out to us being partners. I think that we crossed that line a long time ago. When I was abducted, Mom told me how Mulder searched for me and how he kept on believing that I will be all right when my family gave up hope. Before Melissa died, she told me how she felt that Mulder was in a dark place...darker than mine. Both my Mom and my sister knew what we had been in denial for so many years. We are in love with each other. "I do, Mulder. You know for a long time, I had always been in love you," I answered. "I love you too, Scully," Mulder smiled. "Ever since you walked into the basement office, I fell in love with you." He paused. "Is that why you were jealous of Diana and all those other women?" I nodded. All of those women made me realize that I loved him. Especially when Diana entered the picture. I viewed her as a threat. That's right. A threat to our love. Our relationship. I didn't want anything or anyone come in between us. To ruin us. To ruin the potential budding love that we shared. Mulder took me in his embrace, and he gazed into my eyes. Our lips parted. His lips touched mine. I could feel the warmth of his love for me in his embrace. The passion. Our lips locked, and we finally kissed. It was well worth the wait. If we were connected before, we are even more connected than ever. "I love you, Scully." "And I love you, Mulder," I answered. End of Story.
