Mulder drove Scully home and is keeping her company through the night. A spoonful of MSR. AUTHOR'S NOTE:I wrote this about a week after "Memento Mori", but didn't send it until now because there were so many other post-MM stories. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks to my friend, Jenny, who encouraged me to write this. "At Home" Written by Liz Bartolomeo Pizazz X@aol.com "Oh my God, why is Mulder on my bed? Yes, I know he's just on the edge, but he's on my bed. Why? Ever since we held eachother after Besty Hagopian's death I feel I have to have someone I care for around me. I told Mom this, but I don't think she understands," Scully pondered while Mulder looked at her with a smile on his face. "Scully, I'm so glad you've decided to return to work. I'm so proud of you." Scully sat up to face him, "Thank you, Mulder, and for watching over me." "Just call me your Guardian Angel." Scully suddenly awakes coughing, "Shit," she finds her nose is bleeding. "What's wrong?" Mulder asks groggily as he sits up in the chair he moved next to Scully's bed. "It's nothing, I just need to get a washcloth." "You sure you're okay?" asked Mulder. "Yes, Mulder, I'm fine. These should be stopping within a month. Well, that's at least what Dr. Scanlon told me," Scully says, worried. "Scully, don't worry about Dr. Scanlon. He was just a man involved," Mulder tells her. "Involved in what? In these fertility tests! In this project! What in the world did They do to me?" "Scully, you will find your the answers. You will find your own truth." "But what if I don't?" asks Scully. Mulder gives her one of those Don't-you-dare-say-things-like-that looks as she settles back in bed. Scully falls back asleep while Mulder looks over the file on Dr. Scanlon again hoping to find some answers that would help Scully. He has not found much on the mysterious doctor from Allentown. Though it seems the treatment he gave Scully was infact not harmful to her. "Thank God!" thought Mulder. Mulder was hoping to see those clones of Kurt Crawford again, he had so many questions. But one was for sure, he could never tell Scully, or could he? Well maybe one day when... When what, one day they were truly committed to love. "What a minute! Scully and I living out our feelings. Yes, I do, no, I mean, yes I do love her, but I'm afraid to tell her," contemplated Mulder. "I was very close to telling her at the hospital, but I didn't want to make her feel any worse if she did not love me back." "Oh, I have such a headache!" Scully thought as she woke up. Her clock read 6:22am. "I'm going back to work today," a strong voice said in her head. "It has been a while, but I am returning." Scully even walked to the bathroom to take a shower with confidence. She was in such a good mood, nothing could bring her down. Mulder woke up on the couch at the sound of Scully getting into the shower. He sleepily walked to her kitchen to make coffee. Mulder didn't know what time he fell asleep on the couch, "it was so unslept on," thought Mulder with a chuckle about his own ratty couch. As he was falling asleep that night he was thinking about telling Scully he loved her... "He we go, Sumatra. Gloria Jean's. Hmm... good taste." Scully came out of the shower to find coffee brewing in the kitchen, but Mulder was no where to be found. "He must be getting the paper out of the hall," thought Scully. But the door was still chained form the night. "Mulder," called out Scully as she got a mug from the cupboard. "I'm in here," said Mulder from Scully's bedroom. As she walked in she saw Mulder looking out the window, the morning sunlight coming into the room, "Mulder, what's going on? Are you alright?" asked Scully. "I'm fine. Look outside, Scully, isn't it a beautiful morning?" "Yes, yes it is," replied Scully. "Mulder, come on, you should get going, and I still need to get dressed. Remember we have to go to work today." "Are you kicking me out?" Mulder joked. "No, I'm just saying that if you or I get there late, Skinner will never give us personal leave again," said Scully. "Hey, I am the one who only got a week," said Mulder. Scully gives him one of her looks of annoyance. Mulder walks over to Scully to give her a hug before he leaves. "I'll see you in little while," said Mulder, walking away. "Mulder, wait," said Scully as Mulder stops in his tracks. "I want to thank you." "What, for making you coffee?" quipped Mulder. "No, well yes," laughed Scully. Being serious again Scully continued. "I want to thank you for everything you have done for me over the past few weeks because I know I was a real pain before I was diagnosed. It's just I was under a lot of stress." "Dana, you don't need to aplogize to me," admitted Mulder. "But I have to, Mulder I love you for, oh I mean, I thank you with my heart for waht you have done. I know I am-" said Scully as Mulder cuts her off. "Why did you change what you said?" asked Mulder. "I didn't change anything," commented Scully. "Yes you did; 'I love you'" "What?" a surprised Scully asked. "That's what you said: I LOVE YOU, but then you changed your mind. Is that true?" asked Mulder. "That 'I love you'? Well, how about you, you said it too." said Scully. "Yeah, but I didn't change my mind. Here, I'll just come out and say it, Dana Scully, I love you. There I said it," exclaimed Mulder. "Oh my God, Mulder, I don't know what to say." Scully stumbled. "Just counter what I said," Mulder said calmly. "Fine...Oh, geez," sighed Scully, "Fox, Mulder, I- I can't, I do, but I can't say it. It's in my heart, but my mouth won't speak," Scully admitted. "Then let your heart talk. Your mouth doesn't always have to speak," said Mulder. "I suppose so," Scully said. "We can talk later then, perhaps dinner, after work?" Mulder suggested. "Remember I do love you, please believe that." "I believe you, Mulder, I always have, and always will. But I don't think I can believe myself. You and I have been through so much over the past four years, but when I found out I had cancer, I knew my life could never be the same," a concerned Scully said. "That's why we need to talk," said Mulder as he walked over to Scully. "I'm sorry but I'm not ready yet. I want to admitt my feelings by saying, 'I know' to your earlier proposition, but that is not enough for me," said Scully. "But it is enough for me," said Mulder. "I'll see you in the office in about an hour." THE END please send all comments to me at Pizazz X @aol.com flames will be ignored and will be used to help light my candle
