Title: Achilles's Sentiment Author: Clover Blue e-mail address: glassrain@hotmail.com Disclaimer: See part 1. Feedback is welcome! Enjoy! -------------------------------------------------------------- Part 7/7 Special Agent Fox Mulder Field Report Addendum, Case number 6241998 During the course of this investigation it became apparent that there was more behind these killings besides acts of random violence. Upon investigating the death of a Mr. Edgar Simms evidence was found linking one Ms. Susanne Modeski to the killings. Our suspicions where confirmed when we discovered Ms. Modeski at the GACT Pharmaceuticals warehouse where she held captive one Mr. Edwin Roue. Upon finding Mr. Roue, Agent Scully and I released him to retrieve backup. Ms. Modeski caught Agent Scully and myself off guard and was able to disarm us both. Ms. Modeski related to us her belief of a secret government genetics project, whose main goal was to create the perfect bioweapon to use on the American public. She also told of the alleged involvement of Edwin Roue and the other victims' to this project. Agent Scully and I where ordered to strip off all of our clothing, except for our underwear. Being stripped of our weapons and clothing Ms. Modeski then locked Agent Scully and myself in a small room in the GACT warehouse. Agent Scully and I were found later that morning by a sweeper team after receiving an anonymous tip of our whereabouts. Later it was determined that Edwin Roue had relayed that information. Inspector Duncan Christian of Scotland Yard, was found unconscious behind the GACT warehouse building. During Inspector Christian's debriefing he revealed that after leaving Agent Scully and I, he was struck behind the head rendering him unconscious. Apparently, during the heavy storm a nylon tarp was blown on him and protected him >from the major onslaught of the storm. Inspector Christian is in good health and will prepare to leave Washington DC for Great Brittain as soon as possible. Edwin Roue was placed under arrest pending investigation into accusations of his involvement in the 1989 kidnapping of Susanne Modeski, The Genesis Parchment #3101, and the ARK Project. Efforts to further investigate GACT Pharmaceuticals has been severely blocked. Upon returning to the GACT offices it was discovered that sometime during the night the building had burned down. Preliminary arson reports show little to no possible physical evidence found. Prior to his capture, Mr. Roue was found at JFK airport preparing to leave the country. According to arresting agents, Mr. Roue was in a high state of anxiety and repeatedly told agents that he believed he was being followed and that his life was in danger. While being placed in custody, Mr. Roue attacked several of the arresting agents. Mr. Roue is at present being held at a Federal Mental institution until further analysis of his mental state can be conducted. It is my belief that Mr. Roue was in fact being followed that day by Ms. Modeski and that in fact his life was in danger. It is also my belief that Ms. Modeski felt that her actions against Edwin Roue and the other victims were right, and therefore justified. Her need to strike back at all those involved in what she deemed a heinous crime against the people, makes Ms. Modeski a very real threat to Edwin Roue and anyone else who may have worked on the ARK Project and The Genesis Parchment #3101. As of the time this report was written, Susanne Modeski still remains at large. This case remains open. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FBI Basement 9:15 AM Mulder was lost in his own thoughts as he marched into his office, then came to a abrupt stop in the middle of the room when he spotted Christian sitting at his desk. His feet were propped up comfortably atop the desk, hands behind his head, eyes closed and leaning back in the chair. He looked very much like a man without a care in the world. Mulder had just spent the morning in Skinner's office giving his account of events concerning the investigation of Susanne Modeski, Edwin Roue and why he and Scully were found in a rather compromising position under a trench coat. Though Skinner held a look of professionalism on his face as he listened to Mulder, the tone in his voice when he spoke to Mulder was laced with a hint of amusement. Mulder then had the added pleasure of having to endure the little jokes and innuendoes from other agents as he made the long trek to and >from Skinner's office. This combined with still having to face Scully this morning, made Christian the last person Mulder cared to see this morning. "So," Christian drawled without open his eyes, "the prodigal son returns." "You do understand I'm going to have to disinfect my desk now don't you?" Mulder replied flatly. "Nothing personal." Christian opened his eyes to mere slits and examined Mulder. "You're looking rather...clothed this morning Mulder. What's the occasion?" Mulder strode over beside his desk and looked down at Christian. "Let's just say it's my going away present to you." Mulder answered. A small smile danced on Christian's lip. "Ah, Mulder," Christian sighed, "How I will miss your wit, your witticism, your over confidence, your total lack of humility..." Mulder put his hands in his pockets and leaned against his filing cabinet. "I think you have us confused." Christian gave Mulder a big grin. "Where is your delightful partner Mulder?" Mulder sighed heavily the folded his arms over his chest. "She had to look over some autopsy reports on our victims before she gave her report to Skinner this morning." "Speaking of our victims," Christian said as he swung his feet off Mulder's desk then leaned back in the chair to look up at Mulder, "I have some news for you concerning Edwin Roue. It seems as though members of GACT disavow any knowledge of Edwin Roue's existence." Christian watched Mulder for some kind of response. "You don't seem surprised." Christian said with slight disappointment in his voice when Mulder gave no sign of reaction. Mulder replied with a lopsided grin. "I've seen too many things to be surprised anymore." "Perhaps this will surprise you," Christian pushed himself up to look Mulder in the eye, "Susanne Modeski is now currently the focus of investigation by the UN." That did surprised Mulder. "The United Nations? Why?" "Looks like Ms. Modeski is just one popular girl. However, the case is no longer an FBI or Scotland Yard matter. Pity." Christian studied Mulder for a moment. "Mulder, I have to ask," he said with a mischievous look on his face, "did anything 'unforeseen' happen between you and Agent Scully underneath the trenchcoat?" Mulder let out a sound of disgust as he pushed away from the filing cabinet and moved over to lean on the edge of his desk. "Come now, Mulder," Christian pried, "you are far from being a monk. You can't tell me that you didn't have any 'unprofessional' thoughts run through that little mind of yours while you were...how did you put it in your report? Were 'Required to tactilely conserve body heat.'" Mulder shock his head. "Christian, I'm only going to say this one more time, we're just partners. Scully and I both felt it necessary, given the circumstances, to try to combine our body heat in order to keep from freezing." "Was this before or after you got naked?" Christian smirked. Mulder closed his eyes and tried to get his temper under control as he massaged the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger. He knew that these weren't the first, nor would they be the last of the wisecracks he was going to hear today. He breathed heavily. "Do you have any more information on the case, or do you still need some locker room talk?" Mulder asked. Christian looked at Mulder with a self pleased look on his face as he watched his words achieve the desired effect. "I spoke to the arson investigator," Christian said, "He said that they couldn't find any signs of that steel vault you mentioned. What they did find, however, was this." Christian held out a small plastic baggie with a red piece of tape marked 'Evidence' over it. Mulder took the baggie from Christian and examined the contents. He saw what looked like a small piece of metal. "What is it?" Mulder asked as he turned the bag around in his hand. "No one knows," Christian said as he placed his hands on his hips. "I had one of your guys look at it." "What did he say?" Mulder asked. "He couldn't be sure," Christian said, "However, he did venture to say that it looked very much like a microchip. Though it was too far charred to say for sure." Mulder raised his brows. "Mulder," Christian said, "what do you think it is?" Mulder held the bag up to Christian. "I think you're looking at a cataloging device." "Cataloging? For what purpose?" Christian asked as he took the bag from Mulder's hand. "The ARK Project and presumably GACT Pharmaceuticals," Mulder surmised, "were able to map entire human DNA. If that is possible, they would need a way to keep track of the DNA. What you have in your hands may be the equivalent to genetic dog tags." "And Susanne Modeski?" Christian asked, "Where does she fit into all this?" Mulder folded his arms loosely over his chest. "I believe Susanne Modeski believed that by killing these people that she will somehow be able to reap retribution from those that would do harm to an unsuspecting public. And perhaps find some peace for herself as well." Christian watched over Mulder's shoulder as Scully walked into the room. "So is that what you think of her?" Christian asked. "I think," Mulder said, "she's the last person on earth you would want to be trapped in a room with." Mulder said with a half cocked grin on his face and sarcasm in his voice. "Why Agent Scully," Christian beamed, "Mulder was just speaking of you." Mulder snapped his head around to see Scully standing a few feet from him. Her hands folded neatly over her chest, her head cocked to one side and a dead pan look on her face. Scully watched as Mulder's eyes widened ever so slightly. "Well Mulder," Christian smiled broadly, "I know how badly you wish for me to stay, but sadly, I can not. Scotland Yard calls." Christian swept past the awkward looking Mulder, to stand in front of Scully. "Agent Scully," Christian said as he took her hand in his and flashed her a seductive smile, "it has been a great pleasure to meet and work with you. If ever you make it to England please don't hesitate to give me a ring. I wouldn't want to be accused of failing to cooperate in international diplomacy now would I?" Mulder watched Scully smile coyly at Christian as he raised her hand to his lips and kissed it gently. Christian released Scully's hand and headed for the door. "Oh, and Mulder," Christian said, "I'll tell Phoebe you send your regards." With that, Christian swaggered out of the door. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The End Any comments? Feedback is welcome! Send to glassrain@hotmail.com
