The A-Files, by JeChant@aol.com ************************************************************************** These are not my characters, they are from Twentieth Century Fox and the imagination of Chris Carter, blah blah blah, this should only be used for EMXC, blah blah blah, email me if you have comments, you know the drill. The A-Files File #0126472- Standard Question Form 11/16/95 Name: Dana K. Scully Position: Special Agent Department: X-Files Please fill out this form and return it to Assistant Director Skinner as soon as possible. Use your best judgment with your answers, as they will determine which partnerships will change. 1. Describe your partner's best trait. Agent Mulder's finest quality is his perseverance. He gives his 100% to each and every case, and will sacrifice his personal life to get his job done. His ultimate goal is to find the truth, no matter how strange the truth may seem to others. He will go to the farthest corners of the earth to find the answers. Agent Mulder is a seeker of justice, and I should point out that this how every agent should be described, as it is the very purpose of the United States judicial system. In regards to dedication, Agent Mulder is the finest agent I have known. 2. Describe your partner's worst trait. While Agent Mulder's quest for truth is noble, he is sometimes too willing to accept fantastical stories, rather than considering more down-to-earth possibilities. 3. Make up an imaginary case which you and your partner are called on to solve. Describe how the investigation progresses, and use details as to how each of you contributes to the solving of the case. Try to mimic your real-life behavior. Be honest! Agent Mulder and I are called upon to solve a series of missing persons reports in the Appalachian Mountains. There are witnesses who claim that the disappearances were due to alien abductions. They claim to have seen a great white light, and small figures. Agent Mulder believes them, and builds his hypothesis on that presumption. I, on the other hand, find that the stories are too consistent, almost word-for word. As the case progresses, Agent Mulder begins, however reluctantly, to side with my argument. We find that the stories were actually based on one witness' account, and that the others repeated the story. The first case was aired on the network channels, even Fox TV. The memory of the one case caused the others to overreact, simply by power of suggestion. The other missing persons are found. Our goal becomes to solve the first report. Agent Mulder believes the young woman's account, even though she refuses a polygraph test. Then, pieces start to fall apart in the woman's story. We question her doggedly, and investigate her home, and then a nearby storage area recently rented by her. We find that she has hidden the abducted person in the latter of the places. She had used the aliens as a cover-up for her kidnapping. The case is typical because of the interaction of ideas between myself and Agent Mulder. Sometimes my clinical analysis is wrong, and it is always helpful to have a believer to counter my skeptic tendencies. The case ends by Agent Mulder apologizing and buying me dinner. 4. Do you think that your partnership is a good one? Yes, I feel that Agent Mulder is the perfect partner for me. Our personalities complement one another well. We may appear to be opposites, but in actuality we are on the same plane. It's just that we have different basic beliefs, and this differing of opinion helps us to see each side of a case. We have been partners for several years now, and I believe that I can predict his every move, which is vital in a partnership. Our pairing has resulted in our extremely high success rate. I think that Agent Mulder and I make excellent partners, and that the X-Files is an ideal place for us to work. File #0118825- Standard Question Form 11/16/95 Name: Fox W. Use your best judgment with your answers, as they will determine which partnerships will change. 1. Describe your partner's best trait. Agent Scully's finest quality is her incredible intelligence. She retains a myriad of medical information, and that has always been an asset to the X-Files. Countless times her ability to perform quality autopsies has quickened the process of justice. She gives her 100% to each and every case, and is always willing to sacrifice her personal life to get her job done. Her goal is finding the truth, preferably truth that can be rationally explained. Agent Scully is a seeker of justice, and I should point out that this how every agent should be described, as it is the very purpose of the United States judicial system. In regards to pusuit of justice, Agent Scully is the finest agent I have known. 2. Describe your partner's worst trait. Agent Scully's clinical background and manner sometimes make her too unwilling to accept the answers that are not so "down-to-earth." 3. Make up an imaginary case which you and your partner are called on to solve. Describe how the investigation progresses, and use details as to how each of you contributes to the solving of the case. Try to mimic your real-life behavior. Be honest! Agent Scully and I are called upon to solve a series of missing persons reports in the Rocky Mountains. There are witnesses who claim that the disappearances were due to alien abductions. They claim to have seen a great white light, and small figures. Agent Scully does not believe them, and builds her hypothesis on the presumption that they are lying. She claims that the stories are too repetitive, and suggests that the first instance, which was high-profile (it was even on Fox TV) acted as a power of suggestion to the other witnesses, causing them to overreact to simple disappearances. I, on the other hand, believe the stories, as each of the witnesses pass a polygraph test with flying colors. As the case progresses, Agent Scully begins, however reluctantly, to side with my argument. We find numerous accounts of extra-terrestrial activity in the area. Even the police force of the town admits to seeing strange lights in the sky. The missing persons are not recovered, and the case, though solved in that alien abduction is the most likely cause, is labeled unsolved. The case is typical because of the interaction of ideas between myself and Agent Scully. Sometimes my analysis is wrong, and it is always helpful to have a skeptic to counter my trustful tendencies in the fantastic. The case ends by Agent Scully apologizing and buying me breakfast. 4. Do you think that your partnership is a good one? Yes, I feel that Agent Scully is the perfect partner for me. Our personalities complement one another well. We may appear to be opposites, but in actuality we are on the same plane. It is just that we have different basic beliefs, and this differing of opinion helps us to see both sides of a case. We have been partners for several years now, and I believe that I can predict her every move, which is vital in any successful partnership. Our pairing has resulted in our extremely high, almost spooky success rate. I think that Agent Scully and I make excellent partners, and that the X-Files is an ideal place for us to work. Analysis of Partnership #1121 Agents: Fox W. Mulder Dana K. Scully Area of Work: X-Files I find the partnership of Fox W. Mulder and Dana K. Scully to be satisfactory. They have a high rate of success, one of the highest. They know each other well, and can predict what the other will do or say. Their differing personalties and beliefs help them to, between the two of them, think of every possible solution, and weigh its possibilities. They listen to each other's ideas and eventually come to the most viable conclusion, based on the evidence. I find no reason, despite the Group's recommendation, to separate the two. In my opinion agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are a formidable pair, and one which will do much to serve our country's justice system and discover the truth. Signed, Asst. Director Walter S. Skinner
